Juneteenth of the Year

Juneteenth of the Year

On June 19, J.L. Francis Eagles can take flight into their local communities to honor the legacy of freedom and the enduring spirit of African American history.

Even while on summer break, our Eagles can celebrate by visiting local Richmond landmarks like the Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia, participating in community festivals filled with storytelling and music, or supporting Black-owned businesses to invest back into our neighborhoods.

Whether you are reading a book by a Black author, starting a "freedom garden" at home, or hosting a family cookout with traditional red foods to symbolize resilience, these activities keep the spirit of liberty and progress alive until we all return to the nest!
