Melanie Agee-Wade

Mrs. Melanie Agee-Wade’s journey in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Development, specializing in Early Elementary Education from Virginia Tech. Since 1996, she has been a dedicated member of Richmond City Public Schools, beginning her career as a K–5 educator at AV Norrell and later at Miles Jones Elementary. Her excellence in teaching was recognized in 2012 when she was honored as the Miles Jones Teacher of the Year and named a Top 10 Finalist for Richmond City Public Schools.

In 2018, Mrs. Agee-Wade earned her National Board Certification, reflecting her commitment to high standards in education and professional development. She continued to broaden her impact in 2021 by serving as a Reading Interventionist at JL Francis Elementary, where her work played a vital role in student growth. Her dedication was again recognized when she was named the 2023 Teacher of the Year. Further emphasizing her passion for learning, she recently completed a Master’s of Education from the University of Virginia.

Now stepping into the role of Literacy Coach, Mrs. Agee-Wade is excited to collaborate with fellow educators to refine instructional strategies and enhance student outcomes. She is especially committed to exploring innovative methods that empower both teachers and students to reach their full potential.

 

Dana Miles

Reading Interventionist

Mrs. Dana Miles is an accomplished educator with over 23 years of experience serving in Richmond Public Schools and Prince George's County, Maryland, where she has nurtured and inspired young learners. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Virginia Union University. Currently, she serves as a Reading Interventionist at JL Francis Elementary. Mrs. Miles brings a strong background in creating inclusive, student-centered classrooms that address a variety of learning needs and styles. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and emotional development to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Miles is deeply committed to supporting fellow educators. She has served as a mentor for new teachers and actively participates in professional reading workshops and educational conferences. Her dedication to lifelong learning and her passion for student success exemplify her unwavering commitment to educational excellence and to helping every child thrive academically and personally.
