Literacy Coach
Melanie Agee-Wade’s journey in education began with a Bachelor of Science in Family and Child Development, specializing in Early Elementary Education from Virginia Tech. Since 1996, she has been dedicated to Richmond City Public Schools, starting as a K-5 educator at AV Norrell and later at Miles Jones, where she was honored as Miles Jones Teacher of the Year in 2012 and a Top 10 Finalist for Richmond City Public Schools. In 2018, she achieved National Board Certification, a testament to her commitment to excellence in teaching. In 2021, she took on the role of Reading Interventionist at JL Francis, where her impactful work earned her the title of 2023 Teacher of the Year. Recently, she completed a Master’s of Education from UVA. As she steps into her new role as Literacy Coach, she is enthusiastic about collaborating with fellow educators to refine instructional strategies and enhance student outcomes. Her focus is on exploring innovative methods to support both educators and students in reaching their full potential.
Dana Miles
Reading Interventionist
Mrs. Dana Miles is an accomplished educator with over 23 years of experience in Richmond Public Schools and in Prince George's County, Maryland nurturing young learners. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from Virginia Union University. I am currently a Reading Interventionist at JL Francis Elementary. Mrs. Miles has a strong background in creating inclusive classrooms that cater to diverse learning needs and styles. Her approach emphasizes critical thinking, creativity, and emotional growth, ensuring that each child reaches their full potential. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Mrs. Miles has served as a mentor for new educators. She actively participates in professional reading workshops and conferences. Her dedication to education and her students exemplify her commitment to helping each child reach their full potential.
